Chronicle

In this episode, Field claims that this movie, Chronicle, is the only found footage he likes, but that's a lie. If you remember the episode when we covered the movie, Project X, he liked that as well. Technically, that's kinda, sorta like found footage, so we now have two found footage movies that Field likes.

Needless to say, Chronicle delivers a great premise, and the found footage angle, only amplifies it. Granted, we do switch to Casey's (Matt's girlfriend) camera for some reason and how do they get the footage from the camera that Matt leaves in Tibet...so, are we not an audience? Are digital bits watching this story unfold? Are we the chronicle?

Much like the film Brightburn, not all people who get superpowers use those powers for good. And this story does a nice job of breaking down the relationships between Matt, Steve and Andrew who are imbued with special powers from a mysterious cave crystal.

Andrew's rough home life leads to his turn toward the dark side. His confidence and excitement about the powers hastens that curve. Right behind him is Steve (Oscar Winner Michael B. Jordan), the over-achieving popular kid who is loving life and his powers, and then there's Matt the drip. But he soon realizes that life isn't about smoking weed and doing nothing...I mean, it can be, but it can also be so much more!

Find out what else we had to say about the movie!
