Season 20, Episode 9

A Perfect World is arguably one of Clint Eastwood's best directed films. I said arguably. I know a case can be made for Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby and whichever one you might love. But there is so much going on screen that it's hard to pull away while watching.
In this episode, we have a discussion about the police, led by Eastwood, and there lack of impact within the movie. This story is really about Butch Haynes (Costner) and the little boy, Phillip, and the journey they take, not only on the road, but their personal journeys. The idea that police contingent hot on their tails need to have some kind of impact on the pursuit makes sense, but in reality, that's not their purpose in the story.
The police are simply the inevitable ending to this story that Butch is trying to avoid, but he never will. They are merely the dead-end that Butch is driving toward.
I love this movie. I hope you do, too. Check out what we had to say this week on the show and also, we've got a new studio set up!
