Malignant (2021)
We take a look at James Wan's 2021 horror film Malignant. Quite possibly the newest film we have ever covered on Forgotten Cinema. Field believes this film harkens back to 90s horror cinema, why such a new film could be forgotten, and how best to extract the souls from the living...just kidding about that last part...or was he?!
Thirteen Ghosts (2001)
On this episode of Forgotten Horror as we discussed the 2001 film, Thirteen Ghosts. We talk about the awesome set design of this ghost trap disguised as a house and the cool practical ghost make-up and in camera effects while simultaneously taking issue with the dialogue, unclear plot points, and lack of true scares or kills. Nonetheless, Butler still enjoys the late 90's/Early 00's of it all.
The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
We are waking up the Ancient Ones with Chris Hemsworth on this episode of Forgotten Horror VI as we discuss this Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard film, The Cabin in the Woods. We discuss how this film dissects and uses classic horror movie tropes against itself in this film as well as how some of the movie's self reference and self-indulgence might have been the very thing that led to it's being forgotten.
Dog Soldiers (2002)
We discuss the 2002 werewolves vs soldiers film Dog Soldiers starring Kevin McKidd, Sean Pertwee and Liam Cunningham. Directed by Neil Marshall. A rare film that Field has never seen, what did he think of this low budget film set in the Scottish highlands by a mostly unknown (at the time) cast and director? What is it about the design of these werewolves that Butler really enjoys. And will we ever get to see the planned trilogy? (Probably not)
Identity (2003)
We're stuck in a motel during a rainstorm with John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet and more colorful characters as they try to identify the killer amongst them. But wait! There's a twist and it's not that this movie's plot is very similar to the game, Among Us. That's right! We're taking a look at the James Mangold directed Identity. We'll discuss Mangold's Agatha Christie inspirations for this film, some facts behind it's production, and what Field really thinks about this film, since he apparently saw it and forgot all about it.
Night of the Comet (1984)
We spent the Halloween holiday in 2024 with a couple of 80's valley girls at the end of the world! That's right, we discussed the 1984 film Night of the Comet for the last Forgotten Horror episode of the season. The movie that inspired Joss Whedon to create Buffy Summers. Beware of that dusty comet.
Forgotten Horror VI and Friends
Forgotten Horror VI is part of a tradition that comes around once a year for Forgotten Cinema. Yes, we know, a podcast covering horror films in October isn't anything new. We're not breaking any new ground, but that's not going to stop us from trying!
