The Nurse Betty of Our Lives
Nurse Betty marks our third movie in the Forgotten Cinema lexicon of movies where the plot involves daytime, soap opera television. We've covered Delirious, starring John Candy as a soap opera writer controlling the worlds he lives in with his typewriter. We've discussed the hilarious 90s movie, Soapdish, about the inner workings of a soap starring Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Elizabeth Shue, Robert Downey Jr. and so many more!
And the one constant with all these movies is that we dig them!
This go around we've got Betty (Zellweger) having a psychological break after witnessing her husband's demise, running off to Hollywood to find her husband, only he doesn't exist in the real world. He's a character on her favorite soap.
